Location: Remote/home office (Phoenix area preferred). Start: January 2025
Status: Full-time, regular, exempt salary ($120,000-$130,000/annually)
Travel: Requires occasional travel, some weekend and evening work

PCA is headquartered in the San Francisco Bay Area and operates via a national footprint of 13 local PCA regions with committed non-governing local boards. POSITION SUMMARY
The ideal candidate for PCA’s Director, Marketing & Communications role is an individual with a strong background primarily focused in marketing operations management: Managing marketing support staff and stakeholders through the execution of marketing plans, creating and implementing organizational procedures for efficient marketing operations, setting and measuring KPIs, and efficiently leveraging current marketing software tools and best practices. Reporting to the VP, External Relations, the Director, Marketing & Communications is the leader on how effective and impactful marketing gets done at PCA.
The ideal candidate brings a combination of their expertise in branding, social media marketing, and copywriting with a passion for sports, youth development, PCA’s training, and the Organization’s equity work in communities.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
- Supporting the VP, External Relations in the development of a comprehensive and responsive marketing & communications strategy in alignment with PCA’s annual goals.
- Leading the building and execution of processes, calendaring, assignments, and priorities for PCA’s marketing and communications efforts including coach recruitment initiatives, advancement communications, and partner/constituent communications.
- Training and overseeing branding cohesion and the maintenance of quality collateral development and digital initiatives across the Organization.
- Managing the department budget and related contracts and department cost administration.
Evaluating and driving the use of current and new technology for communications, marketing, and funding vehicles including social media, website, and other online tools. - Developing marketing team members’ competencies and modeling effective, collaborative, and transparent leadership. Demonstrating an environment of respect, creativity, and professional fulfillment. Recommending actions related to hiring, contingency planning, retention, and learning for the marketing team.
- Developing and managing advertising and other electronic marketing to support workshops, training, and partnerships revenue goals.
- Providing metric and evaluation performance reports as directed and proactively in support of the department’s goals.
- Creating marketing materials as needed at any level and leading the execution of high-profile projects in design, content, and/or copywriting.
- Leading effective cross-departmental marketing meetings.
Qualifications
- 7+ years minimum professional experience in for-profit or non-profit marketing operations areas described above, including at least 5 years of personnel management experience.
- Bachelor's degree required. Formal education in marketing, writing, editing, or related field preferred.
- Understanding of athletics, sports terminology, and current sports news and events.
- Experience writing and editing internal communication and external advertising copy for diverse stakeholders & audiences.
- Current fluency with marketing software and website content management such as HubSpot, WordPress, Umbraco, Google Analytics, and all social media platforms.
- Experience managing and reporting marketing KPIs. Ability to translate data into recommendations.
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously assigning deliverables and setting expectations towards deadlines.
- Experience working in social/racial justice organizations serving communities of color and/or experience in cultural proficiency provides a competitive advantage in candidate selection
